Notes
  1. The text is reproduced literally, including spaces, up to but excluding any '!' and subsequent text
  2. The restriction to 79 characters is to keep the record inserted into the header section of the output files to 80 characters maximum allowing for the exclamation mark (indicating a 'comment' record) inserted at the start.
