[Div I] Brasenose did very badly against Exeter, who secured them before reaching the Long Bridges, and Balliol would have been caught by St. John's had not the latter's coxswain followed them all over the course. As it was they reached home three yards to the good, University being only half a length ahead at the time. Christ Church fell victims to Hertford at the crossing .
[Div II] A capital race ensued between Christ Church and Keble, the former getting home after a severe struggle by about three yards to the good. One of the Wadham crew caught a crab opposite the Christ Church barge, and Pembroke regained the position hey lost on Saturday. Oriel had to do their best to keep away from Lincoln.
[Div I] Magdalen never caused their supporters the slightest anxiety, and rowing up in very easy style they passed the post a full length to the good. New College finished a long way ahead of Trinity, who were three lengths in advance of Exeter. University lost ground to Brasenose until they passed th Willows, whence they drew away again. In the meantime St. John's had been steadily gaining on Brasenose, and, coming with a rare spurt from Saunders'-bridge, made their bump just before reaching the Cherwell. Hertford finished within three-quarters of a length of Balliol, with Queen's a long way in the rear.
The summer eights were brought to a conclusion yesterday evening. The weather was again all that could be desired, and there was a very large attendance of visitors on the college barges and towing path.[...]
[Div I] Magdalen, rowing up in splendid style, passed the winning post a length and a half in advance of New College, thus retaining the headship for the fourth year in succession. New College were more than their distance ahead of Trinity who were fully four lengths in advance of Exeter. St. John's, however, made it very unpleasant for University, and, coming with a brilliant spurt from the Cherwell, they rapidly gained ground, and only failed to bump by a couple of yards. Brasenose were half a length in front of Balliol at the finish, the latter having a tremendous struggle with Hertford, who were about three yards in the rear as they passed the post.
