  OXFORD SUMMER EIGHTS The Oxford Summer Eights, consisting of four days' racing, were concluded on Saturday when New College and Magdalen, who caught the leaders Trinity and Balliol, on the first night, won the headship. There were 13 entries and eight bumps were made.

  Anglo-Iraqi War: British troops complete the re-occupation of the Kingdom of Iraq, returning Prince 'Abd al-Ilah to power as regent for Faisal II.
