CONGRATULATIONS!!!
proud in san diego,
Nathan R. Levinson
Ros Temple (M.81)
Having failed to show for more years than I can remember, it was fantastic to be there and see the women take and hold onto the headship. Great result for the men too, even if they did cause me to lose my grown-up dignity and revert to my screaming boatie persona at as they got so close to that bump going past OUBC.

please convey my congratulations to the women's first eight for going head. what a marvellous achievement. also congratulations to the men's eight for getting four bumps- it's a pity they don't have six days so as to get more!
Geoffrey Sworder, Captain 1949/1950.
Richard Pullinger (M.80)
These are fantastic results. The 17 year plan really is taking shape. Congratulations to one and all. Best wishes,
Rick Pullinger

What the hell is happening?!!! Head of the River for the Ladies and Blades in 1st Division for the Men! Well Done Guys. That is fantastic. I hope there weren't to many casualties at the boatclub dinner.

Robert Trythall (M.80)
Great to hear Catz doing so well. Looks like Bobby G. did a good job!! Sad to hear it was 'how cold my toes' getting trashed. Think I might have rowed in that one!
News from my end is that I am heavily involved in coaching a mens squad in Aberdeen, and still doing the odd bit of Veteran rowing. However, I have been known to sub into the ABC mens open eight on occasion. I did two 4k head races with them on the Clyde the other weekend, in between snow flurries. Definitely think that coaching is easier.
Cheers, R.

WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats to both crews! Wish I'd been there to see such a historic event. Is the college going to go bankrupt paying for the Bumps Supper now? Think I'll definitely be heading back home for Torpids next year and see what all this flooding fuss is about (wouldn't have happened in my day [as OURCs Secretary]!) I guess all those new boats have paid off.....seeing that Brain of Pooh is something like the 12th VIII shell was a depressing moment.
Way to go Catz!!
Dave Reid (M.80)
Please pass on my congratulations to both crews and I hope you had a dinner on Saturday night to match. I will be seriously disappointed if as you suggested in you original e-mail you were in a fit state to start sending on congratulations by Sunday afternoon. All the best and after such a Torpids success what can we expect more at Eights?
David (Jimmy) Reid
Tony Mitchell (M.78)
Thanks for the torpid update it was much appreciated. Fantastic results for men and chicks. Sorry I couldn't be at the dinner, I hope it was great, sadly I had a long standing engagement which I was unable to move so sat there talking to some guy from New York all evening when Iwould much rather have been celebrating with a few boaties. Congrats again to the 1st 8'
regards Tone
Graham Elliot (M.80)
Brilliant !!! thanks for the daily updates - they were great. I am attempting to send you an attachment of congratulations to go on the rowing board (if they still have one).
grimbo.
Paul Miron (M.84)
Brought a lump to my throat and tears to my tired old eyes, that did. Just wish I'd been able to get down there.
Gill Rhodes (M.82)
Congratulations to all. Sorry I missed the actual race. It was a good evening last night even if I left rather early. I will make more effort to come to Torpids more frequently in future.

Cath Ellicott (M.97)

Frank Gignac (M.58), from the USA
Thank you so much for your excellent report on the final day of Torpids with the great news that our Catz men's crew got its 4th bump and ended up 6th in Division 1 and our women rowed over Head of the River in dominating fashion. What a fantastic Torpids for our Catz crews! Heartiest congratulations to all involved in their splendid showing.
Frank
Mark Walker (M.82), from Australia
Thanks for all the news Anu, it's been great to follow the crews if only from a distance. For a while there I actually thought that vicarious Torpids were better than the real thing -- not having to contend with the sleet and all -- but when it comes to headship + blades for the 1st VIIIs I sure wish I'd been there. Congrats to both crews, apparently singular coach, and the extended family.
Mark
Alan Supple (M.86)
Just send my congratulations to both crews. That is fantastic news. You've made my Saturday afternoon at work. Wish I could have been around to see it. Look forward to making it to a RS Dinner one of these years....
Craig Klafter (M.83), from the USA
Thank you for the wonderful news. The Master is hosting a dinner in New York at the end of the month and we are sure to celebrate the great accomplishments of the men's and women's crews. I'll be in Oxford for Eights Week and look forward to seeing you then. With best wishes.
Andrew Silverbeck (M.86)
Many congrats to women and mens !! Excellent week !! And all the better for the exciting stroke-by-stroke lucid commentary.
Peter Ainsley (M.54)
Fantastic news, Anu. Congratulations to the crews and to everyone (like yourself) involved in support. A hugely cheering effort. Good outlook for Summer Eights?
Regards, Peter Ainsley
Jim Morrish (M.89)
Pls. pass on congratulations to the Women's first (assuming they stay head) ... and the men's first (if they get blades -- and in the process undo some of the damage to positionings on the river achieved when I was rowing in it ... I think the first VIII is roughly back to where it was before I joined it ... ahem ...)
Cheers, J
