Lv2 Pre-Processor (CP) [Prev] [Next]
Modifications since previous meeting

Oxford Retrieval (VP) [Next]
Modifying OPTIMO to read Lv2 Pre Processor output (previously only read AMIL2DA Blind Test spectra as input)
Aim is to complete chain: [L1B] - L2PP - [apodised MW spectras] - OPTIMO - [retrieved profiles]

MW Selection (MP) [Next]
Using the RAL algorithm to select O3 MWs for the UTLS region.

RAL Retrieval (JR) [Prev] [Next]
Currently working on a more memory-efficient of the RAL retrieval code, as well as looking at the problem with H2O retrievals.

Lv2 Extraction S/W (BJK) [Prev] [Next]
Victoria communicating with Reinhold Spang about extracting required parts from ESA format.

MPhys Projects (AD)
Three students just starting on MPhys projects within AOPP related to MIPAS retrievals:
Retrieval of CO2 (Jonathon Green, Christ Church) [Next]
Pressure and CO2 have very similar Jacobians so cannot distinguish at high altitudes, but pressure-broadening effects at low altitudes may be sufficiently distinct.
Retrieval of Isotope Ratios (Malcolm Parks, Hertford) [Next]
MIPAS has sufficient spectral resolution to distinguish lines from several isotopes of the major species, so it should be possible to retrieve any variation in the isotope ratio with altitude
Retrieval of CO (Oliver O'Brien, Pembroke) [Next]
CO emissions have strong non-LTE effects which makes the retrieval difficult, however it might be possible to avoid these by retrieving only low altitudes and/or at nighttime, or maybe retrieve vibrational temperature directly. temperature or avoid
They will present some results at the next meeting
