- First validation of MIPAS O3, H2O and NO2 with collocated measurements
from satellite sensors HALOE and SAGE II -
[Poster] (Astrid Bracher)
Summary:
- H2O MIPAS - HALOE:
- Before Nov 13th (1.3-45mb): MIPAS +5 to +15%
- After Nov 13th (1-100mb): MIPAS -3 to +15%
- O3 MIPAS - HALOE:
- Before Nov 13th (1.7-45mb): MIPAS +4 to +11 %
- After Nov 13th (1.7-45mb): MIPAS +3 to +10 %
- O3 MIPAS - SAGE II:
- Before Nov 13th (0.45-45mb): MIPAS +2 to +15 %
- After Nov 13th (1-70mb): MIPAS -3 to +10 %
- NO2 MIPAS - HALOE (1.5-25mb) (using photochemical model to allow for
diurnal difference)
- MIPAS +5 to +40 % (and large scatter except at SZA~90deg)
- BIRA
- Presentation from Quentin Errera comparing MIPAS and
HALOE using data assimilation, but his conclusions were that
- MIPAS H2O too low
- MIPAS NO2 about right
- Chiara will contact Quentin and get some numbers from him
REC Analysis (AD)
[Prev]
[Next]
Performing REC analysis on 7 months ESA L2 data (Aug-Feb)
for MIPAS Cal/Val report.
- NH3 analysis shows about 100% overestimate,
ie that the IG NH3 might be
an order of magnitude larger than true profile. This would have
consequences on the retrievability of NH3 (currently under
consideration as an additional species for operational retrievals).
- CFC-14 (CF4) - long lived tracer with significant
greenhouse forcing (EGS poster from Laila Gohar, Reading). Only a weak
residual signature but indication of some profile structure
(also under consideration as an additional species).
