Present

Instrument Status [Prev] [Next] (Some details on the Envisat Web-Site)

L2 Data [Prev] [Next]

ESA Processing [Prev] [Next]
See Message from Rob Koopman

30km Zonal Mean Traces (AD) [Prev] [Next]
Plots of day-by-day zonally-averaged NRT data 30km nominal tangent height
Increased "noise" reported to ESA - Rob Koopman replies that there were no changes in processing in early October to cause this
ESA are also aware of attitude oscillation signatures in SCIAMACHY and GOMOS data - still under investigation

Joint Retrieval Microwindows (CP) [Prev] [Next]
Investigating which combination of species are best retrieved jointly in terms of information gained: H2O + pT seems best
Also investigating best sequence of retrievals (following pT): H2O first seems best.

Data Assimilation (MJ) [Prev] [Next]
Currently looking for ozone sonde data and investigating effect of vertical resolution on assimilation.

OPTIMO Retrievals (CP) [Prev] [Next]
Reprocessing Sep/Oct 2002 data using the Oxford processor, OPTIMO. Originally pT, O3 and H2O but now adding CH4
Investigating effect of different a priori and vertical correlations

MIPAS-STR Retrievals (VP) [Prev]
Writing code to retrieve CH4 and H2O from IMK aircraft version of MIPAS - still at the debugging stage.

SF6 Retrievals (AB) [Prev] [Next]
Running OPTIMO to retrieve SF6 (and pT)

Message from Rob Koopman (28 Oct 03)

An interesting input may be the information that I have just received from the ground-segment team: the new Aux Data (version 3.6) will be activated this week in the NRT processing chain. The update of the off-line processor ADFs (version 3.6) will take place next week, but dissemination will have to wait until consolidated level 1B products with new ADFs arrive at the D-PAC. Latest news is also that the awkward distribution on media for the OFL products has been replaced by a much more convenient FTP server (address to be announced shortly) Below is an overview of the aux file evolution within the QWG, generated by Piera Raspollini. Several deliverables have only been used for tests during the improvement process. In the ground segment, version 3.1 has been implemented on 23 July 2003 and will remain active there until the update to version 3.6.

All operations information in your minutes are correct, but let me know if you'd like any additional info. We'll do our best to improve on this. For the increased noise we'll have to look into anything that we expect to change. Do you think pointing deviations could translate into such temperature retrieval deviations? (note: These are QWG-internal deliveries: only version 3.1 and version 3.6 are/will be used in operational data processing)
