NRT Data received up until 8th Mar, plotted up until 8th March.
Some L2 data has now been retrieved for every day since 7th March, 1 day of operation.
Software version 4.59 in use since 23 Jul 2003
Daily zonal mean traces at 30km show, in particular, a 10% enhancement in H2O at all latitudes throughout February, although normal values appear to have been resumed at the beginning of March.

Using local retrieval code OPTIMO to retrieve NH3 from MIPAS spectra.

Continuing to investigate degree of 'smoothing' required for sequential estimator

Using local retrieval code MORSE to retrieve isotopic concentrations

(VP) Expect significant variations for H2O isotopes compared with surface ratios (10s of percent difference), especially HDO
Still investigating results with simulated data.

Special Modes [Prev] [Next]

Progress Meeting#3 for the MIPAS Special Modes study took place the previous week [Powerpoint Presentation ]

Microwindows selected for S6 special mode (0.1cm^-1 spectral resolution, 2km vertical spacing, 100km horizontal spacing) have now been generated. These show usable performance for the key species but not for the additional species. [Next]

Bologna report that existing S6 observations have large number of corrupt and cloud-contaminated scans, making testing difficult. [Next]
Gabriele Brizzi (Bologna) has investigated the detectability of H2CO (formaldehyde) in the MIPAS AB and C bands but found no convincing evidence of any signal.
