Present

Instrument Status [Prev] [Next]
Some details on the Envisat Web-Site including Instrument Availability web-site

L2 OFL Data (AQ) [Prev] [Next]
In /home/crun/mipas/L2/2PODPA/ [Plots of profile locations]

Residual Spectra (AD/AQ) [Prev] [Next]
Averaged microwindow residual spectra for March 2004 for the nominal microwindows have now been plotted (but not yet examined in any detail): http://www.atm.ox.ac.uk/group/mipas/res/

Reduced Resolution (AD) [Prev] [Next]
A decision has been made that when MIPAS is reactivated the L1B spectra will be at a spacing of 0.0625cm-1 (ie 16 points per wavenumber, as opposed to the origina 0.025cm-1, 40 points per wavenumber).

MORSE (AD) [Prev] [Next]
MORSE is intended to be the replacement to OPTIMO as the Oxford retrieval code

SO2 (AB) [Prev] [Next]
Attempting to retrieve SO2 over volcano Nyiragongo (Central Africa), where TOMS showed enhancement during May 2003.

OCS (AB) [Prev] [Next]
Investigating cause of ring of depleted OCS around S.Polar vortex

Continuum (GT) [Prev] [Next]
Extracting continuum spectra from MIPAS L2 data to investigate aerosol signatures in atmospheric continuum.

Email from Rob Koopman (ESRIN) to MIPAS QWG, 8 Jun 2004
Subject: Green light for preparations for reduced resolution operations Dear Bruno, Gaetan, Sven and fellow QWG colleages,

I have good news on the QWG preparations for MIPAS operations.

The QWG activities proposed for reduced-resolution operations will require Envisat Steering Group approval. The Envisat Steering Group will address our case on 7July. I will contact the task leaders separately to convert the inputs received so far into a more formal proposal.

In view of the urgency of the activity, the Mission Manager has approved all activities up to a ceiling equivalent to all activities to be performed prior to the steering group date. Therefore we can start already now the QWG activity defined during the ACVE-2 meeting.

Note that it is confirmed that the resolution will be reduced to 62400 fringe counts ( sweeps duration has thus been reduced by 40.99% to 1.64 seconds) Iteration within the QWG has resulted in selection of a spectral grid of 0.0625 cm-1

The activities to be performed have been provided by the task leaders:

Level 1B: task leader Gaetan Perron

Level 2 : task leader Bruno Carli (plus Sven Bartha for ML2PP testing) For the schedules of this activity, the original dates provided by Gaetan and Bruno are to be shifted by three weeks.
