Some details on the Envisat Web-Site including Instrument Availability web-site

Unavailable since 26th March due to mechanical problems.
Has recently been tested at reduced resolution mode without vertical scanning.

L1 Data (CP) [Prev] [Next]

BADC store of NRT L1B data seems to consist only of Kiruna orbits.

Those receiving L1B data via Exabyte seem to have different data, but still only Kiruna orbits.

L2 OFL Data (AQ) [Prev] [Next]

In /home/crun/mipas/L2/2PODPA/ [Plots of profile locations]

L2 OFL (off-line) data continues to be processed, most recently for Apr/May 2003.
Software version 4.61 in use since 17 Mar 2004

Profile miscounting for residual spectra. The following has been received from Gabriella Scarpino at ESA (22 Jun 04)
Please, be informed that the issue has been investigated and reported to the appropriate people - a fix is expected in the future versions of the IPF.

Reduced Resolution (AD) [Prev] [Next]

Provisional pT and H2O microwindows plus LUTs have been delivered to test out the operational software at the reduced resolution

Plot of new MWs (solid) v original 0.025 cm-1 OFL MWs. Note the use of the B band for pT retrievals at low altitude - CH4 lines?
Error analyses: [TEM] [PRE] [H2O], compared with original OFL MWs [TEM] [PRE] [H2O]

MORSE (VP) [Prev] [Next]

Comparing MORSE with OPTIMO pT retrievals for Orbit 2081. Seem to be large differences at high and low altitudes, and over the S. Pole. Not yet sure if these are signficant.

OCS (AB) [Prev] [Next]

Now retrieved OCS for Nov 2003 [Plot].

Some problems over the equator
Also appear to be missing S. Polar data - check if band D spectra are corrupted? (OCS is one of the few retrievals to use band D).
Looking for chemical model results for comparison

Continuum (GT) [Prev] [Next]

Extracting continuum spectra from MIPAS L2 data to investigate aerosol signatures in atmospheric continuum.

Problem in our local L2 reading software with zero array dimensions - now fixed
Now successfully converted spectra to extinction units.
Still only looked at a single scan.

Isotopic Retrievals (VP,CP) [Prev] [Next]

Using MORSE to retrieve isotopes of O3 (CP), H2O and CH4 (VP).

Selected 22 Nov 02 and 22 Nov 03 as suitable days for intercomparison with ODIN retrievals
Also selected data for comparisons with MIPAS Balloon retrievals.
Latest version of MORSE seems to give more stable retrievals

Working with Jo Urban to supply MIPAS N2O profiles for comparison with ODIN results for Sep 25/26 2002.
