Niels Bormann (ECMWF) has joined the list of people who await reprocessed L1B data - he's recently tried BADC but they still only appear to have the NRT data.

Reinhold Spang (at Juelich) actually has some reprocessed L1B which he obtains as tapes directly from the DLR.

2003 has almost been fully reprocessed with v4.61 - just missing early January and late December
Some v4.61 data has been deleted from the DLR ftp site for reasons of space, although we still have copies of all the data here in Oxford.

ODIN Comparisons (VP) [Prev] [Next]

H2O as retrieved by OPTIMO (also ESA) is about 2ppmv higher than ODIN values and climatology in the upper stratosphere, although HDO values are similar (but only retrieved up to around 30km).
Will investigate using different microwindows and day/ngt comparisons to see if this is a problem in the MIPAS retrievals.

MIPAS retrieval code being written at Oxford for public use, funded by NERC.

A problem has been identified with occasional high H2O (and O3) retrievals from MORSE compared to OPTIMO and ESA retrievals using the same microwindows [Plot] - problem disappears if H2O is retrieved jointly with pT.
Problem is thought to be related to the manner in which pT profiles are fed into subsequent constituent retrievals (specifically how the atmosphere above the pT retrieval is represented).

MIPAS Operations have resumed today in Reduced-Resolution mode for a short interval of time. These operations will result in the usual gradual build-up of differential slide velocity anomalies, to a level that will make them visible during the brief (1 minute each) Back-up mode (single-slide) operations tests. The back-up mode tests will be performed immediately after the Orbit Control Manoeuvre (all other instruments off), on 21 September.
