The answer to my question
`Where can I find information on where MIPAS will be observing in the next few weeks. I believe these are the overpass tables - are these on the web?'
supplied by the EO Help Desk is:
`ENVISAT instrument future coverage and archived acquisition can be found in the ENVISAT catalogues available at http://envisat.esa.int/services/catalogues.html '

L1 Data [Prev] [Next]
[BADC Archive of reprocessed L1B Data]

S6 Special Mode [Prev]
ESRIN are currently reprocessing the S6 Special Mode data acquired 4/5 Jul 2003 - this is the 0.1cm-1 spectral resolution data previously unusable due to software problems

L2 OFL Data [Prev] [Next]
[Plots of profile locations]

TES Comparisons (CW/CP) [Prev] [Next]
(CW) Looking at TES nadir spectra from 22 Aug 04 over the ocean
(CP) Looking at TES limb spectra: many corrupt spectra but at present limiting to using just central pixel (~16km) and attempting pT retrieval using MORSE

ASSFTS-12 Workshop [Prev] [Next]
Atmospheric Science from Space using Fourier Transform Spectrometry, Workshop to be held in Quebec, 18-20 May 2005

Those registered from Oxford:

CO Retrieval (JW) [Prev] [Next]
Looking at orbit 7119 11 Jul 03 which should reveal signal from biomass burning in Africa, but nothing immediately obvious.

SF6 Retrieval (AB) [Prev] [Next]
Currently processing data for solstice and equinox months
Decided to use a priori covariance with

Microwindows for 0.0625cm-1 (AD) [Prev] [Next]
Currently selecting microwindows for new nominal mode operations which employ floating altitude grid (lowest altitude 3-9km from pole-equator) and 1.5km spacing at lower altitudes

Validation Papers [Next]
Message from Herb Fischer (IMK), circulated 29th March, who is attempting to coordinate MIPAS validation papers
Dear colleagues,

in 2004 ESA has carried out an ENVISAT validation workshop in Frascati. It was a successful meeting and the results were published in proceedings. It was shown that the operational MIPAS data products as generated by ESA are already in good shape but obviously the validation process was not completed.

To my opinion it is necessary to demonstrate the quality of the MIPAS data products in a peer-reviewed journal. In order to reach the objective we should establish several Working Groups who are able to complete the validation process for single MIPAS data products and to write corresponding journal articles. [Attached] you will find a preliminary listing of planned papers/Working Groups. We are still open for contributions of scientists being up to now not on this listing. Each Working Group will have a chairman who will organise the work in this group.

In order to start the procedure I would propose to have a first meeting during the EGU conference in Vienna on 26 April 2005. Due to the fact that there is a session on "The Atmosphere Optimally Sounded by Satellites" on the day before I expect that a considerable number of scientists involved in MIPAS validation is in Vienna on 26 April 2005. It was proposed to me to carry out our meeting outside the conference location in order to save money for the conference registration. How about your opinion on this?

Please respond at your very earliest convenience. I would like to be informed if you will participate in our "workshop" at the EGU meeting, if you are interested to be involved in the preparation of these journal articles, if you have proposals about the procedure to reach this goal and if you have proposals for the inclusion of further scientists.
