Fehr) of the very short MIPAS Science Team Meeting University of Bologna Bologna, Italy 23 September 2005, 09:00-09:30 General Remark: Due to a unforeseeable change in plans, the Science Meeting was sacrificed for a shift in the MIPAS QWG #8 Meeting, 22/23 September 2005 1. Mission Planning: 1.1 Balloon Campaign Location: Southern France Date: 26 September - 24 October 2005 Planned Launches: Total: 5 For Validation : 2 MIPAS/ENVISAT planning: Foreseen MIPAS (ENVISAT) operation for the campaign support Nominal: Switch-on: 26 September 2005 Mode: UTLS-1 Week 1 / Week 2: 6 Orbits/day (3 morning / 3 evening) (43 % duty cycle) Week 2 / Week 4: 3-4 Orbits/day Actions/Intervention: a) As soon as validation flights are completed, MIPAS operation will be stopped Time needed to stop operation is about half a day AI-01: Hermann Ölhaf to inform Marta b) Marta is expecting input for the planning of Week 3+4 at the end of Week 1 AI-02: Hermann Ölhaf: Update Mission plan if feasible and to inform Marta AI-03: Marta de Laurentis: Adopt mission plan Foreseen operation following the campaign: Upper Atmosphere mode starting on 28/10/2005 In case the MIPAS support for the campaign is covering the complete campaign, it is recommended to interrupt the MIPAS operation at least one week (see QWG #8) presentation by Peter Moser, ASTRIUM) This, as well as the operation during the campaign critically depends on the MIPAS performance regarding IDU errors following the resumed operations: AI-04: Peter Moser to update Herman Ölhaf, Marta de Laurentis, Claus Zehner and Thorsten Fehr on the instrument performance as soon as reliable information on the system recovery is available. 1.2 SCOUT Location: Northern Australia (Darwin), Maritime Continent Date: 13 November - 09 December 2005 Setup: Focus on aircraft measurements It was agreed to support the campaign A campaign support planning will be ready two weeks before the campaign AI-05: Hermann Ölhaf to provide input for the planning 2. Public Relations 2.1 ESA Image Gallery The images provided to the gallery have to be high resolution with at least 300 dpi. As a result images provided on most web pages do not have the required resolution AI-06: ALL to provide high resolution illustrative images based on MIPAS observation - to be put onto following ftp server: ftp:styx.esrin.esa.it, login:project7, passw.: scar7face, dir:MIPASPR 3. Next MIPAS Science Team Meeting It was decided to connect the meeting to the MIPAS Validation Meeting held at IMK, Karlsruhe, 29/30 November.
