Oxford MIPAS meeting#84
11 Oct 05

Present

Instrument Status [Prev] [Next]
Should now be in 'campaign mode' - 5 orbits/day covering balloon campaign in S. France using UTLS-1 mode.

L2 OFL Data (CP) [Prev] [Next]
[Plots of profile locations]

HiRDLS Comparisons (CW) [Prev] [Next]
Comparing HiRDLS retrievals with locally-retrieved MIPAS profiles for 28th January 2005 and 1st March 2005. Now added ClONO2 and N2O5

N2O5 (JW) [Next]
N2O5 is retrieved with fairly poor precision using the standard MIPAS microwindow approach, thought to be due to retrieving both continuum and N2O5 in each microwindow. Investigating the following error analyses: Preliminary investigations with actual microwindows suggests significantly larger N2O5 values are retrieved if continuum is completely ignored, but needs further examination.

O3 Isotopes (CP) [Prev] [Next]
Resuming work on investigating microwindows for retrieving O3 isotopic concentrations. Current results indicate much larger concentrations of heavy isotopes than predicted by models, but retrieved values still not considered reliable.

Aura Science Team Meeting [Prev] [Next]
Expected participants from Oxford MIPAS group:
All using MIPAS 2RR data from 2005 rather than Off Line products (so no direct connection with MIPAS validation groups).

TES (CP) [Prev] [Next]
The JPL team have recently informed us that there is a bug in both the limb and nadir L1B spectra that they have sent to us (their own version of the data, not the 'official' archived version). This is being fixed and the corrected data will be resent.

Spectroscopic Data (JH) [Prev] [Next]
Version 3.2 of the MIPAS spectroscopic database has now been released.
Before recalculating LUTs using the new data, some tests will be performed to check difference between this and previously used version (3.1).

2RR Microwindows (ie 0.0625cm-1 resln) (AD) [Prev] [Next]
Selecting microwindows for new nominal mode operations which employ floating altitude grid
