Oxford MIPAS meeting#85
25 Oct 05

Present

Instrument Status [Prev][Next]
Now 'resting'. Switched off on 17Oct following end of S.France balloon campaign. Due to be switched back on for MA/UA mode 29Oct.

Bimonthly Report (AB) [Next]
The MIPAS Bimonthly report for May-Jun 2005 has been released
Contains useful summaries of instrument availability and software versions

L1 Data [Prev] [Next]
[BADC Archive of reprocessed L1B Data]

HiRDLS Comparisons (CW) [Prev][Next]
Comparing HiRDLS retrievals with locally-retrieved MIPAS profiles for 28th January 2005 and 1st March 2005.

N2O5 (JW) [Prev][Next]
N2O5 is retrieved with fairly poor precision using the standard MIPAS microwindow approach, thought to be due to retrieving both continuum and N2O5 in each microwindow. Investigating the following error analyses: Conclusion is that significantly improved precision is obtainable for N2O5 if a single continuum profile is fitted across all microwindows. Local retrieval code MORSE will have to be adapted to be able to perform this.

Web Page
Agenda (PDF File) distributed 25OCT05
Participants from Oxford MIPAS group:
All using MIPAS 2RR data from 2005 rather than Off Line products (so no direct connection with MIPAS validation groups).

TES (CP) [Prev][Next]
Selecting dedicated microwindows @0.0625cm-1 resolution for retrieval of pT + H2O + O3 from TES limb spectra.
Currently generated error and Jacobian spectra.

Spectroscopic Data (JH) [Prev][Next]
Now completed checks comparing radiance calculations for each molecule using v3.1 and v3.2 of the MIPAS spectroscopic databases.

2RR Microwindows (ie 0.0625cm-1 resln) (AD) [Prev][Next]
Selecting microwindows for new nominal mode operations which employ floating altitude grid

RAL Work (AW) [Prev] [Next]
Taking another look at retrievals of H2O and O3 in the UTLS region from the original high-resolution data.

CO Retrievals (JW) [Prev][Next]
Started work on retrieving CO assuming LTE (ie only valid for nighttime) from MIPAS 2RR data from 28 Jan and 1st March.
