Fields
Field Type Description Units Range
!CMNT Cn Optional comment record(s) First character is '!'
ABS(:) C7 Name of each absorber [1] [2] eg co2, H2O
ALTL R MW Lower Tangent Altitude [3] km eg 30
ALTU R MW Upper Tangent Altitude [3] km eg 68
CHN(:) I (if NCHN present) Channel# within microwindow [4] 1 : NCHN
IABS(:) I RFM/HITRAN Index of absorber#i (Optional) [1] eg 2 (=CO2)
ISEQ C4 Microwindow sequence number (not used - can be blank) eg '  1 '
LABEL C8 Microwindow Label eg 'NH3_0001'
NABS I No. of absorbing species >0
NCHN I (Optional) No. channels/points to use within microwindow >0
WNOL D Lower Wavenumber Boundary cm-1 0 < : < WNOU
WNOU D Upper Wavenumber Boundary cm-1 > WNOL
Type: I=Integer; R=Real; D=Double Precision; Cn=character string, length n.

Notes
  1. All retrieved species are considered as absorbers for all microwindows whether they are explicitly listed here or not.

  2. ABS: Absorbing species names can be upper or lower case, up to 7-characters, corresponding any of the list of RFM molecules

  3. ALTL, ALTU: For limb-viewing microwindows can be applied within a limited nominal tangent altitude range. Set to, eg, 0, 120 if MW is to be used for all tangent altitudes.

  4. NCHN, CHN(:): (Nadir viewing) instead of using the complete microwindow, you can select a subset of spectral points ('channels') within the microwindow, giving the index of each channel, so channel #1 corresponds to WNOL and #NCHN corresponds to WNOU.
