Processed IASI MetOp data up to Nov 2015. Possible detection of LA anomaly, also max over Indonesia for Oct 2015 compared to usual October. Working on NRT retrieval using MHS data.

Writing up RFM paper for special issue of JQSRT (also TV working on paper describing LUTs for same issue)

Working on adding a new option for output on an irregular grid.

OCS Retrievals (TV) [Prev] [Next]

Linear & iterative retrievals for OCS. Revising state vector based on experience with iterative retrievals. Improvements to Noise covariance, including modifying diagonals where large H2O residuals evident. Improving selection of initial guess.

Ash Retrievals (CH) [Prev] [Next]

Trying to get IASI NRT linear ash on the web-site. Statistical limitation with NRT data (33 lines) in determining what is anomalous, so need a better threshold technique.

Also working on Calbuco paper

SO2 Retrievals (EC) [Prev] [Next]

Calbuco eruption - analysed month of SO2 data to follow transport around globe. Can observe conversion into sulphate while trapped in S Atlantic. Total SO2 shows decay with ~14-day time constant.

(RS) RAL retrievals show CH4 anomaly in almost same place over S Atlantic.
