EUMETSAT study using RAL retrieved T,H2O,O3 for CH4 retrievals. Also incorporating SWIR measurements. Need to correct residuals for individual detectors - not much difference. Retrieving SWIR as column retrieval rather than profile. Not yet at level where this can be used to contribute to IR retrieval.

Summer student working on CH4 anomalies over N America, also working on NRT web-site - using CAESIUM to view data (a bit like google-earth but works as a web-page).

Attended annual COMET meeting. Plots of monthly mean SO2 linear retrievals over Etna - almost continuous signal found. Based on statistical covariance matrix, fixed Jacobians. Problem with absolute values, probably due to variable water vapour.

NH3 (RH) [Prev] [Next]

Linear retrieval using SVD of ensemble of RTTOV profiles plus varying surface temperatures to reconstruct observed spectrum. Aim is to use information from spectral reconstrution to reconstruct appropriate Jacobian.

Trying to generalise SO2 linear retrieval to work for other species on JASMIN for multi-year run.

Continuing testing of MORSE IASI retrieval.
