EUMETSAT study using pre-retrieved T,H2O, emissivity etc for CH4 retrieval, also shortwave CH4. Use both operational T,H2O,Emiss as well as RAL's own IMS product. IMS has less ocean/land CH4 contrast. Presenting results at EUMETSAT conference next week.

Continuing testing of MORSE IASI retrieval. Questions over how to incorporate a priori fields into retrievals - ad hoc interpolation routines in L2 or embed in the pre-processed IASI L1C data.

Writing up paper looking at persistent sources of SO2 - volcanoes and copper smelters.

Using CO2 cloud-slicing technique to retrieve ash altitude.

Solved problem incorporating PC information from EUMETSAT as a priori in the presence of surface topography. But decide to use for first guess only, with zonally averaged a priori.

Major problems with data storage at JASMIN/CEMS - hit limit.
