Improvements to CH4 prior to reprocessing

• Using latitude-dependent a priori
• Add scale factor for 13CH4

Linear Retrievals (LV) [Prev] [Next]

Now run for 10 years for various species on CEMS

• Plots work better for long-term molecules, eg CFC-11,12 decreasing, F14, SF6 increasing.
• Distinct change in May 2010 - change in IASI calibration?
• Doesn't seem to work for CO and OCS (both band 3).
• Also H2SO4 product.

Working on paper on Volcanic SO2 degassing

Using SO2 linear retrieval for plume detection.

Scaled linear retrieval (RH) [Prev] [Next]

Using IASI spectra to adjust magnitude of Jacobian for linear retrival

• Produced limited set of retrievals for various species
• NH3 works quite well
• Similar results to LV retrievals for biomass burning, but with scaling factor difference
• Clouds affect results more than current linear retrieval

MORSE (AD) [Prev] [Next]

Preprocessor now written to convert IASI .nat data to L1C input for MORSE.

• MORSE now works for complete orbit (at a very basic level)
• Next: interface to input RAL IASI L2 T,H2O,emiss data

RFM (AD) [Prev] [Next]

Conversion to F90/F95 now largely complete, apart from a few minor options and testing (335 separate modules, similar to F77 version)

• Internal architecture very different, but rfm.drv driver tables and other input/output file formats unchanged.
• Main advantage is automatic sizing of arrays so should no longer be necessary to recompile every time an array bound has to be increased.
• Disadvantage is that it's likely to contain a number of bugs
