Incorporating short wave 3.7 µm CH4 band. Standard and PC retrievals with simulated data and real data for EUMETSAT report. Problem using PCs - biases compared to using full spectra.

SO2 (EC) [Prev] [Next]

Paper submitted by Isabelle Taylor on SO2 retrievals from IASI. EC still working on paper on Bardarbunga SO2 flux emissions, compared with OMI and NAME model, and local measurements. Problems combining RTTOV with LUTs for aerosols.

NH3 (LV) [Prev] [Next]

Now running MORSE as well as linear retrievals for complete months, UK and Indonesia. Run MORSE with fixed T,H2O and also using RAL L2 inputs, but coverage with RAL data limited to cloud-free scenes. Bug with RAL L2 time data: same time assigned to all retrievals from each IASI scan line.

Now adapted to make use of RAL T,H2O data. Still need to incorporate surface emissivity. Also thinking how to incorporate AVHRR cluster data to model cloudly scenes.

SLR (AD) [Prev] [Next]

Scaled Linear Retrievals. Picking up on Rob Hargreaves work: linear retrievals with fixed gain matrix, but then apply a scale factor to adjust for surface temperature contrast, etc. Trick is to determine the scale factor from the spectrum itself rather than external information.
