CH4 (DK) [Prev] [Next]

Trends in CH4 in N.Atlantic as part of ACSIS, 2007-2015, latest version of RAL processor, run one day per month so far. 5ppb/year trend. Also looking at trends in other RAL products.

IASI L2 (AD)

Writing self-contained IDL module for reading IASI L2 .nat files, with aim to use these as input to MORSE. Problems are major change in format around Oct 2014 and lack of timing information at pixel level - so not straightforward in matching up with L1C spectra.

Paper by Isabelle Taylor on SO2 retrievals from IASI has been accepted.

Recently attended stratospheric aerosol conference, dealt with SO2 and OCS as well.

OCS (MC) [Prev] [Next]

Just started PhD on IASI OCS, using ULIRS. Will compare with TOMCAT. Also plotting ULIRS CO - fires in Canada in August 2017.

Air Quality (DM) [Prev] [Next]

Working on air quality indicators using, amongst other satellites, IASI. Compared IASI & MOPITT CO with ground-based data. Using Oxford IASI HCN, HCOOH, NH3 associated with fires. Retrieval of CO in 'cloudy' scenes. HCN/CO enhancement ratios over Indonesia (HCN larger for peat burning). Add N2O to ULIRS CO retrieval - gives better agreement with FORLI.

Linear Retrievals (LV) [Prev] [Next]

Currently reprocessing IASI linear retrievals for various species, complete dataset. Looked at Jul/Aug 2017 Canadian fires.

H2SO4 (EC) [Next]

Now have MPhys student working on sensitivity analysis for H2SO4 retrieval, based on modified ash retrieval.
