MPhys student Edwin Phua working on OCS product of Scaled Linear Retrieval.
Anomalies associated with Tarim basin. Q: Why is antarctic always high. Plausible coastal features associated with upwelling/biological activity but these areas often have to temperature inversions which may cause anomalies.

Looking at generalising line-mixing to make use of (potential) new data available in HITRAN database

SO2 and Ash (IT) [Prev] [Next]
Now has Lucy's ash retrieval running - now transferring to CEDA. Investigating using different LUTs for ash - very similar results for Eyja. SO2 from Raikoke - linear v iterative June2019. Blob of SO2 in stratosphere seems to match H2SO4. Need to update to use new version of RTTOV which should have better modelled SO2.

CO and CH4 (DK) [Prev] [Next]
S5P + CrIs for CO and CH4. Updating tools for reading IASI CH4 data. v2 IASI CH4 now archived on CEDA. Investigating differences in NRT CH4 between using old and new IMS schemes.

Australian Fires (BJK) [Next]
Working with Richard Pope. Jan 2019 Australian fire plumes. CO, CH3OH, O3 and CH4 using NRT from MetOp. IMS O3 seems to be a minimum in centre of CO max, which might also correspond to dust signal - obscuring the IMS O3? RP using O3 from GOME to compare, which seems to have more of a maximum. Inter year burning signatures different in IR and UV?
