In 1837, the race with Cambridge falling through, it was agreed that the two head boats on the river should race at Henley; as Christ Church were forbidden to row, they took off to allow Queen's to go head and represent Oxford in the race.Queen's subsequently beat LMBC (St John's College, Cambridge); [more details] (from thames.me.uk)
