  The top of men's division 1 saw some truly exciting racing but relatively few bumps. Magdalen were chased hard by Pembroke but eventually prevailed to make it four in a row. Behind these two Balliol fended off a late surge from Oriel on day 4 to stay in the top 3. Oriel did manage to make up some of the ground lost in the previous year to end the week in 4th place. Univ moved up two to complete the top five. Special mention must go to Keble for being the only crew in the top two divisions to gain four places. Other successful crews in the top division were Hertford and Worcester, the latter moving up three to secure a spot in the top flight by condemning New College to the lower tier.

  The women's divisions saw their fair share of controversy before even the first cannon had been fired in a row about eligibility. Once the dust had settled the outcome of that controversy mattered little as Teddy Hall held on to the headship for a second year regardless. Similar to the men's divisions there was no change in the top three with Christ Church and Pembroke both rowing over on all four days. Behind the three non-movers Somerville and Osler-Green gained two and three places respectively to complete the top five. What the men's divisions lacked in blades and spoons the women produced aplenty. A very strong Balliol gained an astonishing seven places as well as a fixed place in division one to win their oars. Oriel and St John's happily picked up the crews Balliol disposed of to both gain 4 places. Those gains had to come at the expense of some others will all of New College, Queen's and Worcester dropping 4 to collect spoons.
