Skating, which lasted far into term, interfered greatly with coaching. This was followed by floods, so that the coaching had to be done largely from the stern, whilst several boats migrated to the upper river.First day: Balliol broke a rudder line, and were bumped, but regained their place next day.
Second day: Hertford fouled a piece of floating bark, which stuck to their bows, and were rebumped by Brasenose II. Magdalen broke an oar.
Third day: Wadham broke an oar
Fourth day: Corpus (bumped by Magdalen) rowed an untrained man, as No. 7 fainted just as they were getting into their boat.
Last day: Corpus broke an oar.
