  The races for the first time were held in three divisions.

  Second day: Trinity were stopped by a block of boats, and caught by Hertford.

  Fourth day: Merton were bumped by Hertford, and bumped Queen's almost simultaneously. The witnesses were equally divided and equally sure, so as a bump had taken place, and the committee could not decide which, the three boats were ordered to row again next morning, when Hertford secured their bump

  French anarchist Emile Henry sets off a bomb in a Paris café, killing one person and wounding twenty.

  15 Feb

  French anarchist Martial Bourdin attempts to destroy the Royal Greenwich Observatory in London with a bomb but succeeds only in killing himself through its accidental explosion.

  In Korea, peasant unrest erupts in the Donghak Peasant Revolution, a massive revolt of followers of the Donghak movement. Both China and Japan send military forces, claiming to come to the ruling Joseon dynasty government's aid.
