The Torpids — The Third Division crews in the third day of the Oxford University Torpid races on Saturday. A strong wind made conditions difficult at the start.

On Isis and Cam, for the first time since 1939, 100 eight-oared crews will be engaged during the next 10 days in the normal Lent term bumping races.To-day the Oxford "Torpids" are being rowed again. There is an entry of 34 crews. These eights will be starting again in the order in which the boats finished in the "Torpids" of 1939. Form is very uneven, so there may be a lot of "bumps." In accordance with tradition there will be six days' racing, finishing next Wednesday.
In the first of the six days' racing in the Oxford Torpids yesterday there were 11 bumps. In the first division the successful crews were New College, St. John's, Christ Church, and Brasenose. In the second division bumps were made by Brasenose, making their second bump of the day, Oriel, Keble, and St. Catherine's. In the third division the successful crews were Brasenose II, Magdalen II, and Jesus II.
On the second day of the Oxford Torpid races there were again 11 bumps. In the first division bumps were made by Magdalen, Christ Church, and Brasenose, and in the second division the successful crews were Oriel, Wadham and St. John's II. In the third division bumps were made by Brasenose II, Christ Church II, Magdalen II, and Jesus II. Christ Church and Jesus] obtained their bumps when the boats of Exeter and Queen's were blown into the bank and could not start.
Strong winds blew boats into he bank when the Torpid races were continued at Oxford on Saturday. Ten bumps were recorded during the afternoon, the successful crews being:— First Division.— Worcester, Christ Church, St. John's, and Brasenose. Second Division.— Brasenose II, St. John's II, and Wadham. Third Division.— Queen's II, Magdalen II, and Brasenose II. Brasenose II made two bumps.
There were eight bumps in the Torpid races at Oxford yesterday. In the First Division the successful crews were:— St. John's, Trinity, Christ Church, Brasenose, and Worcester. Bumps were made in the Second Division by Wadham, Keble and Brasenose II, the last of whom have gone up give places. There were no bumps in the Third Division.
There were nine bumps in the Torpid races at Oxford yesterday, the fifth day of the event. The successful crews were:— First Division.— St. John's, Christ Church, Brasenose, and Worcester. Second Division.— Wadham, Keble, St. Peter's Hall, and Brasnose II (who have now moved up six places). Third Division.— Jesus II.
Six bumps were made yesterday in the final day's racing of the Oxford Torpids. This is the first occasion on which St. John's have been the Head of the River. In the First Division the successful crews were Christ Church and Brasenose, whose two boats made 13 bumps between them. In the Second Division bumps were made by Wadham, Keble, St. Peter's Hall and St. Catherine's. There were no bumps in the Third Division.The order of finishing was:—[...]
