Tables and Figures

General

Captions

The caption should provide a general description of a figure or table. Interpretation of the figure or table should be given in the text, not the caption.

Fount

The size and style of the principal text within a figure or table should be the same as the body text.

Rotated Tables and Figures

If a figure or table is set at 90° to the main text it must be rotated anti-clockwise.

Figures

Axes

The range of an axis should be choosen to cover the range of values plotted or an extened range to ensure the first and final tick marks lie on rounded values. However do not extend the range to non-sensible values. For example, a function of latitude (assuming values occur over the whole range) should be plotted from -90 to 90 not -100 to 100.
